Vivo has expanded its popular V-series smartphone lineup with the new Vivo V80, continuing the company's focus on stylish design, photography and features aimed at content creators. The new smartphone combines a premium-looking build with ZEISS-powered cameras, a high-refresh-rate AMOLED display and a significantly larger battery.
The Vivo V80 starts at ₹62,999 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant in India. Higher storage configurations are also available, with the top model offering 512GB of storage.
The V80 carries a refined design that gives it a distinctly premium appearance. It features a 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, making scrolling, animations and video content appear smooth and responsive.
The phone also comes with an aluminium frame and glass finish, while IP68 and IP69 ratings provide protection against dust and water. A 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is integrated into the display for unlocking.
Photography continues to be one of the biggest strengths of Vivo's V-series, and the V80 follows that formula.
The smartphone features a triple rear-camera system co-developed with ZEISS, including a 50MP primary camera, a 50MP telephoto camera with up to 3x optical zoom and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. A 50MP front camera is provided for selfies and video calls.
The camera setup performs particularly well for portraits and everyday photography. However, some testing suggests that Vivo could further improve image consistency in challenging low-light conditions and optimize processing in high-resolution shooting modes.
The Vivo V80 is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor, paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
For regular activities such as social media, browsing, photography, streaming and multitasking, the phone offers dependable performance. However, the processor is not necessarily the most powerful option available at this price point. Heavy gamers may find competing smartphones with stronger performance more appealing.
One of the notable changes is the software experience. The V80 runs Android 17 with OriginOS 7, bringing Vivo's latest interface and a range of AI-powered features.
The software experience is designed to remain smooth while offering additional customization and intelligent tools. Vivo has also promised four Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates, giving the phone a relatively long software-support window.
Battery life is another major highlight of the V80. Vivo has equipped the phone with a 7,200mAh battery, which is considerably larger than the battery found in its predecessor.
The smartphone supports 90W wired charging. Independent testing indicates that the battery can comfortably handle a full day of demanding use and can potentially stretch well into a second day depending on usage patterns.
The Vivo V80 continues the core strengths that have made the V-series popular: premium styling, capable cameras, a high-quality display and strong battery life.
Its biggest weakness is arguably performance. At a starting price of ₹62,999, buyers have several alternatives that can offer more powerful hardware. The V80 therefore makes the most sense for users who prioritize photography, design, display quality, battery endurance and software experience over maximum gaming performance.
Overall, the Vivo V80 is a well-rounded premium smartphone that successfully builds on the V-series formula. It may not be the ideal choice for performance-focused users, but for photographers, content creators and everyday users looking for a stylish and feature-rich phone, it remains a compelling option.
