Simple Energy Enters the Family Electric Scooter Market with Wave

Bengaluru-based electric vehicle maker Simple Energy is expanding its presence in India’s growing electric scooter market with a new product aimed at everyday family users.

The company has launched the Simple Wave, its first electric scooter designed specifically for family and daily-use requirements. Until now, Simple Energy has mainly focused on performance-oriented electric scooters. With the Wave, the company wants to reach a wider group of customers who are looking for comfort, practicality and good range.

One of the main highlights of the Wave is its large storage capacity. The scooter offers up to 70 litres of storage, including under-seat storage and additional compartments. This makes it useful for carrying shopping bags, groceries, helmets and other everyday items.

The Wave is available in three variants and six configurations. Customers can choose between different battery and feature combinations depending on their requirements and budget.

Range is another important feature. The top version of the scooter offers a claimed IDC range of up to 243 km on a single charge. This could make the scooter attractive to customers who want to reduce the need for frequent charging.

The higher variants also come with several technology and convenience features. These include a TFT display, navigation, GPS tracking, Bluetooth connectivity, USB charging and over-the-air software updates. Some versions also offer features such as traction control, regenerative braking, hill-hold assistance, reverse mode and crawl mode.

The Simple Wave starts at an introductory price of ₹1.09 lakh (ex-showroom). Deliveries are expected to begin from the last week of September 2026.

The launch is an important step for Simple Energy as it tries to move beyond the premium electric scooter segment. The family scooter market is much larger, with customers generally placing greater importance on comfort, storage, range and affordability than outright performance.

Simple Energy is also planning to expand its sales network and production capacity. The company currently has more than 75 outlets across 63 cities and aims to increase monthly sales significantly in the coming months.

With the Wave, Simple Energy is entering a highly competitive segment. Its success will depend not only on the scooter itself but also on pricing, availability, service and customer experience.

For Indian buyers considering an electric scooter for daily family use, the Wave adds another option to an increasingly competitive market.
