According to recent bullion market updates, prices of both precious metals have weakened over consecutive trading sessions. However, market experts believe that festive demand could influence prices in the coming weeks.
Gold prices recorded another decline on October 13, 2026. According to the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA), the price of 24-carat gold dropped by ₹399 per 10 grams to approximately ₹1.48 lakh.
The decline followed a larger fall on October 12, when gold prices decreased by ₹1,369 per 10 grams. Together, the two sessions resulted in a reduction of approximately ₹1,768 per 10 grams.
The latest movement may provide an opportunity for consumers planning jewellery purchases, although local retail prices can vary depending on the city, purity, taxes and jeweller.
Silver prices have followed a similar downward trend. On October 13, silver became cheaper by ₹923 per kilogram, bringing its price to approximately ₹2.20 lakh per kilogram, according to the reported IBJA figures.
Silver had already declined by ₹814 per kilogram on October 12. Across the two sessions, the combined reduction amounted to approximately ₹1,737 per kilogram.
Silver prices are influenced by investment demand as well as industrial consumption, including applications in electronics and renewable-energy technologies. Changes in international markets can therefore affect domestic prices.
Despite the recent decline, the outlook for gold and silver remains uncertain. Commodity expert Ajay Kedia expects festival-related buying in India and China to potentially support prices in the coming days.
In the outlook reported by Bhaskar Digital, gold could move towards ₹1.55 lakh per 10 grams before Diwali if market conditions support a recovery.
However, this is a market expectation rather than a guaranteed price target. International bullion movements, currency fluctuations, interest-rate expectations and changes in investor demand can all influence the direction of prices.
Consumers planning to buy gold or silver should compare current rates with those offered by local jewellers. The quoted bullion rate is not necessarily the final amount paid for jewellery.
For gold jewellery, the final bill can include making charges, applicable GST and other item-specific costs. Buyers should also check the stated purity and hallmarking details before purchasing.
Those considering precious metals as investments should remember that prices can rise or fall quickly. A short-term decline does not guarantee an immediate recovery.
Gold and silver prices have experienced a fresh correction in India, with both metals recording declines over two consecutive sessions. While the lower rates may attract jewellery buyers, expectations of stronger festive demand could influence the market ahead of Diwali.
Consumers and investors should monitor updated bullion rates and treat price forecasts as estimates rather than certainties.
